It has been asked, “What hasn’t Rick Beeman done?”
He has degrees in Theatrical Design (A.B., UCLA), a degree equivalent in Accounting (45 units from Anderson School of Management, UCLA), and a Masters of Divinity (M.Div. Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Northwestern University).
He began as an independent lighting and set designer in Spokane, Washington, before moving to Los Angeles where he became a member of I.A.T.S.E. and began working for CBS television as a stage hand and set decorator.
Ordained in the Pacific Northwest Conference after graduating from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Rick ended up moving to San Francisco, rather than returning home. Rick has also been a chaplain/preacher at the Heritage Retirement Home in the Marina district of San Francisco for the past 34 years.
He is currently working on “An Oral History Project of Everyday Elders,” interviewing people 80 and over, of various backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and orientations, exploring how elders stay engaged in life and where they find meaning.
He is a member of Epworth UMC in Berkeley, CA.
